The beginning of the adventure
Hi everyone,
If you’re reading this then that means I am just about to board my one-way flight for a solo adventure with no end date! To say this is a pinch me moment is a complete understatement. I am currently sat blubbering in Terminal 2 of Manchester airport having just said “see you soon” to my mum and stepdad.
The idea for making this blog is predominately to keep all my family and friends up to date on my adventures as well as acting as a creative outlet to brain dump, journal and compile all my thoughts and feelings into one small corner of the internet. I hope it will be cathartic and allow me to feel connected to those back home but also to see a visual timeline of growth during a huge, scary, exciting time in my life. I would also love for it to reach anyone who may find the stories, advice and transparency a comfort as they “wing it” alongside me. Because let's be real – that's what we’re all doing anyway! I want to keep this as honest and raw as I can- not just a highlight reel.
A brief background on me- my name is Rachel and I’m 24 from the UK. Over the last couple of years, I’ve made huge steps to pushing myself outside of my comfort zone and proving to myself that, despite being a chronic anxious over thinker (which you will get to see if you follow along) that you should never let fear hold you back. I will cover this in more depth in other blog posts because we’d be here all day and I really don’t want to miss my flight (that would be a great start)
*Deep breaths* So, first stop Qatar and then onto Australia. The plan is no plan and we’re just going to wing it! See you on the other side of the world eekkk....
